At 7 years old my mother took me to my first dogshow as she wanted to look at what breed of dog to get. Ignoring her suggestion of the Cairn Terrier my sister and I were wandering around when a fluffy blonde dog jumped up and put its paws on my shoulders. Not long after that we had our first Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier "Ruby" and "Softeire Kennels" began. The Softeire tribe has expanded since then, and has also included an Australian Terrier and now consisits of multiple Petit Basset Griffon Vendeens.

15 years after that first show, I started looking for a smaller breed that would be easier whilst I was at university.
And so I decided to get a Cairn Terrier, and the breed has well and truely made its way into my heart, with "Skippy" joining the family, followed by Fancy and Miss Zhel'bhe.

I only showed sparingly in 2010 due to being in my final year of a Bachelor of Veterinary Science.
2011 was an interesting year with many ups and downs, and I started a new job in NE Victoria and Skippy continued to mature and the new additions came to make themselves known.

Since then there has been the addition of an English Toy Terrier returning to my first breed getting a Soft Coated Wheaten. The Cairn numbers have also increased with Billy going the gang on a semi permanent basis.

I am now living on the Far Coast South of New South Wales, and the dogs are loving the beach lifestyle.
